MOSCOW, April 15. /TASS/. Russia’s Bereg self-propelled artillery systems destroyed a group of a notional enemy’s amphibious assault ships in drills off the coast of Novorossiysk, the Black Sea Fleet’s press office reported on Monday.

“The combat teams of Bereg systems who arrived at the positioning area prepared and equipped in advance detected a group of a simulated enemy’s amphibious assault ships that was preparing for landing troops onto the coast. All the targets were notionally destroyed in the process of accomplishing combat training assignments,” the press office said.

The combat teams of the Bereg artillery systems apportioned the targets among themselves to effectively strike a notional enemy’s particular warships and personnel, the press office said.

The drills were held as part of the combat training plan of the Novorossiysk naval base’s coastal defense separate brigade at the Zhelezny Rog practice range.

The Bereg 130mm self-propelled artillery system is designated to destroy small-and medium-displacement warships, including fast-speed vessels. The Bereg is capable of detecting targets at a distance of up to 35 km and destroying them within a range of 22 km.
