In the afternoon of October 11, the Turkish military and the National Syrian Army (NSA) resumed their advance around the border town of Tell Abyad in the northern Raqqa countryside.

Turkish forces managed to capture the villages of Muhambal and Halawa southeast of Tell Abyad, tightening its positions around the key town.

A few hours earlier, Turkish forces advanced west of Ras al-Ayn in northern al-Hasakah, capturing the border town of Tell Halaf and the nearby village of Asfar Najar as well as the silos.

In the course of this advance, two soldiers and a military engineer of the Turkish Armed Forces were killed by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Kurdish forces operating south of Afrin in northern Aleppo killed two other Turkish service members.

These five service members became the first Turkish casualties in Operation Peace Spring, which was launched in northeast Syria two days ago.
